Established in 2005, Gulf British Academy is a thriving British International School with BSO accreditation. The school presently caters for pupils from Pre-KG to Year 11 and will grow year on year to become a 3-18 through school. We are seeking a UK qualified and experienced Music& Drama Teacher to join us and our team of Specialist Subject Teachers. Applicants must be fluent English speaking graduates who hold a UK Department for Education teacher reference number or be in their final year of training.

What you offer

You can offer a high-quality music and drama education to KS2 and KS3 students, fostering creativity, confidence, and a passion for the performing arts. You can develop an engaging curriculum, tailored to the age and skill level of students, aiming to develop their musical and dramatic skills, critical thinking, and teamwork abilities. You are a teacher who can reflect upon and adapt practice to deliver quality lessons thereby raising attainment, giving pupils confidence and encouraging independent learning. 

Essential requirements:  

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Music, Drama, Performing Arts, or a related subject and a certified teaching qualification such as B.Ed. PGCE, PGDE or equivalent. 
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in music and drama for KS2 and KS3 students, in line with the National Curriculum and school guidelines.
  • Develop students’ practical skills in singing, acting, music theory, improvisation, and ensemble work.
  • Foster creativity and confidence, encouraging students to explore a range of music and drama styles, techniques, and genres.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support for students of varying abilities.
  • Integrate technology and resources to enhance learning experiences in both music and drama.
  • Organize and help lead school productions, concerts, and other performance opportunities, including drama clubs, music ensembles, and choir.
  • Coordinate with colleagues to support cross-curricular activities and projects.
  • Proven UK teaching experience or international experience within a British curriculum-based, BSO-accredited school. 
  • Promoting safeguarding of all students and equality of opportunity for all students and staff.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.  
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and build good relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.  
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and/or police check.
  • Willingness to make a significant contribution to our wider curriculum, including the development of extra-curricular activities.  
  • High level of IT skills with experience in using Google Workspace, Zoom, Gmail, shared drives, etc as well as IT tools to record observations and assessment.


Desirable:  

  • Google Workspace for Education certified
  • Knowledge and experience with student management information systems (iSAMs, SIMS, etc)
  • Familiarity with initiatives such as Philosophy for Children and Growth Mindset.

Curriculum

We work closely within the national curriculum for England to deliver creative and interactive programmes that develop our academic curriculum, pastoral care system and extra-curricular activities to ensure our children are happy and enjoy coming to school. This includes a house system, as well as Philosophy for Children and Growth Mindset initiatives. We also embrace Islamic culture and values through Arabic Language, Islamic and Quran studies in accordance with the guidelines of the Kuwait Ministry of Education.
