Job overview

Sha Tin College is seeking a passionate and experienced MYP/IGCSE Digital & Product Design teacher to inspire students through the IB MYP Digital Design and Product Design programs starting Aug 2025.

Our MYP/IGCSE Digital Design is taking on an increasingly Computer Science-lite flavour to it, with increased use of electronics, microprocessors and programming. Our MYP Product Design, meanwhile, is becoming increasingly centered around graphics design, 3d printing, laser cutting, and as well as material choice, design and finish. There are obvious synergies and opportunities for more extensive integration of our units of inquiry between these two disciplines that we wish to harness. We are seeking a teacher who brings a combination of these Digital and Product skills to help drive this innovation and integration.

You will exemplify excellent professional practice, exhibit high standards of teaching and learning, and support the guidance and co-curricular activities of the school. Experience with MYP curriculum is a plus but not essential for the right candidate.

Working as part of the Faculty/Department team under the guidance and direction of the Head of Faculty/Department, you are expected to:

Provide learning opportunities for every student commensurate with their needs, abilities and stage of development by teaching a programme that gives each student the opportunity to experience success and which challenges all students to achieve their full potential

  • Establish effective and positive relationships with students based on mutual respect, recognition of the individuality of each student and affirming their cultural identity
  • Provide a safe, effective, challenging learning environment and an attractive and welcoming classroom
  • Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of students
  • Contribute ideas and collaborate on the design and development of courses, teaching materials, programmes and assessments
  • Maintain positive classroom management among students and safeguard their health and safety
  • Actively participate in, and contribute to, the professional development life of the school
  • Work as a tutor for a group of students within the Wellbeing programme
  • Take cover lessons, assist with examination arrangements, perform yard supervision duties and other tasks within the normal roster of duties assigned to the teaching faculty
  • Contribute to the extra-curricular programme
  • Perform other duties which may reasonably be assigned from time to time by the Principal

The above list is neither exhaustive nor definitive and is subject to change in accordance with departmental and school needs.

There are also additional negotiated leadership roles within the Department to support and enhance professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, or
  • Bachelor's Degree in the relevant subject with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent;
  • 1-3 years’ teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation.

Closing Date: 6th Jan, 2025
