Job overview

Godstowe is a thriving, busy School enjoying a famous reputation in its field and now entering its 125th anniversary year. Approximately a third of our pupils are boarders. The School prepares children for entry, mostly at 13+ but some at 11+, into the leading independent senior schools. The School prides itself in academic excellence, whilst being non-selective at entry.

Our Nursery children are taught in a bright and airy building at the centre of our site. The building has recently been completely refurbished and adjusted to accommodate a modern Nursery within a traditional setting. The Nursery operates term time only and accepts children from the age of 3.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, talented and caring Assistant to join our Nursery, ‘Little Godstowe’.

The successful candidate will join a professional and happy team. At Godstowe, children in the Nursery follow the Early Years curriculum. The Nursery programme focuses on all aspects of the children’s academic and artistic development, with strong pastoral support and close links with parents being required at all times.

If your Early Years practice is of an excellent standard and you are ready for a new challenge, we would like to hear from you. We require a Level 3 qualified and experienced Assistant.

This is a full-time (term time only) fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

Visits to the School prior to interview are warmly welcomed. To arrange a visit or if you would like more information about the role, please contact us at: HR@godstowe.org

How to Apply:

Alternatively, please download the Application Form at: https://www.godstowe.org/our-community/vacancies and having done so send it to: HR@godstowe.org

Closing date: Friday 13 December 2024.

Interviews will take place during December 2024.

Please note that the School reserves the right to interview on receipt of applications and to appoint prior to the deadline, so early application is recommended.

Godstowe School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check before taking up the post, along with pre-employment safeguarding checks.

Something Special is happening at Godstowe

Godstowe was founded by two strong, progressive women, originally in fact as a school whose purpose would be to prepare girls for the move down the hill to Wycombe Abbey School. Their vision was for an innovative, academic and broad education for girls and, without a doubt, this continues to live on in today’s school.

Our ethos is simple. All we want is for our girls and boys to be Confident, Happy and Successful. Indeed, if the first two are true, the third will almost certainly follow. Success is defined in many ways, and we mean successful in the broadest sense: successfully kind, successfully courteous as well as successful in achieving a wide range of goals. We keep our pupils busy and engaged, we entertain and intrigue them, encourage them, and excite them. Happy children are easy to teach.

With outstanding, highly qualified teaching staff as well as a strong and experienced pastoral team, excellent facilities, wonderful surroundings, a non-selective intake policy and a more positive, exuberant and industrious atmosphere than you will find in other schools, it is likely that most of our children will be happy to learn, happy to stretch themselves, happy to support each other, and happy to do whatever they can to take an active part in their own education. Why push children through the curriculum when they can be inspired to make their own journey, choose their own routes and arrive at their destination under their own steam?

Our pupils love their time at school. It never ceases to amaze me just how much highly motivated and enthusiastic people can willingly contribute, and we don’t just mean the girls and boys, we mean the staff and the parents too! Godstowe is alive with opportunity. Remember, to learn a lesson you need to live it.
