Start date: Week Beginning 9th December 2024, subject to employment checks.
Hours: 38 hours per week, all year-round flexible working hours between Monday – Friday. 8am until 6pm across 4 days.
Salary: Grade 16 Point 2, currently £22,366 FTE (actual pay on 38 hours will be £22,970 per annum), then moving up to Grade 14, point 6, currently £23,893 FTE (actual pay on 38 hours will be £24,538 per annum) after 6 months' probation.
Location: Huish Nurseries - North Town Primary School & Nursery, Taunton.
Annual Leave: 25 days plus Bank Holidays dependent on shift pattern.
Contract term: Permanent/Full Time
About Us:
Huish Nurseries @ North Town Primary School is a well-established, friendly nursery dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for children aged 2 -4 years old, open 49 weeks of the year from 8:00am- 6:00pm Monday to Friday.
We believe in creating a safe, stimulating, and fun environment where children can explore, learn, and develop at their own pace.
We are looking for candidates who are able to:
- Provide a warm, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere for children and families.
- Plan and deliver engaging activities that support children's developmental milestones.
- Observe, assess, and record children's progress to ensure they are reaching their full potential.
- Promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating setting, adhering to health and safety policies.
- Follow all safeguarding policies and procedures of the nursery
- Work collaboratively and enthusiastically with a team to ensure high standards of care and education.
- Communicate effectively with parents/carers, keeping them informed about their child's progress.
Requirements:
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education or Childcare (or equivalent).
- GCSEs in Maths and English are essential.
- Previous experience working in a nursery or early years setting is desirable.
- Sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient approach.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Paediatric first aid, a current safeguarding certificate and a food hygiene certificate are desirable.

Thank you for your time and interest in North Town Primary School and Nursery. I have been lucky enough to be the head teacher at the school since April 2022 and feel very lucky and honoured to be leading the school.
North Town is a two-form entry town school which serves a wide community. We have over 430 children attending the school with another 50 children on roll at our nursery.
We have a committed and enthusiastic team of staff at the school who work together to ensure we can provide the best education possible and provide many opportunities for the children. The community are really supportive and onboard with everything we are aiming to achieve as a school. They know that the staff are approachable and work with us to ensure children progress.
The school leadership are ambitious with much experience to continue to improve the educational experience for all children. They work effectively as a team and work closely with all staff so that everyone at the school has a voice and feel listened to and that we are all working towards the same outcomes.
Staff are given opportunities to progress and develop in a caring and ambitious environment.
North Town Primary School and Nursery is part of The Richard Huish Trust. It is a Trust with a 6th form college, a secondary school and five primary schools. The schools work closely together in collaboration which has a positive impact on each setting.
