Job overview

We are delighted to be able to advertise the role of Outreach Teacher. We have a growing number of young people on roll who are either not attending school long term or are on a part time timetable. We are looking to employ a multi skilled teacher on a permeant contract, who is able to travel to the homes of these students, or meet them in the local community and provide home tutoring while they are not in school. The successful candidate will need to be competent in a range of subjects and be willing to support pupils to complete work from across the curriculum, with a specialism in one or more of English, Maths and Science preferable.

The successful candidate will have an interest and some experience working with vulnerable students, those with SEN and SEMH needs. The role will involve working collaboratively with school staff and external services such as CAMHS and Early Help in the hope of transitioning students back into school. The outreach tutor will be a pivotal part of the team, alongside the Inclusion Manager, who aim to bridge the gap between home and school. In doing this, the candidate will need to have some experience or understanding of factors that can cause emotionally based school avoidance, in addition to a child centered approach and passion for achieving great outcomes for very vulnerable young people. Safeguarding is at the forefront of this role, and so the successful candidate will have a good knowledge of safeguarding procedures as well as a willingness to handle sensitive information in a confidential and appropriate manner. Most of all this is an opportunity to make a real difference to young people who need support
