Outreach Tutor

Role Overview:

• Employer: PRISM Youth Project (Independent school for ages 11-19 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health issues and Mild Learning Disabilities)
• Salary: £34,834 - £36,648 (pro-rata)
• Hours: 37 hours/week, term-time only
• Training: Includes support towards Qualified Teacher Status

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver Functional Skills Maths and English.
• Tailor approaches with SENCO for individual student needs.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
• Prepare and deliver innovative lessons, group activities, and 1:1 sessions.
• Monitor and document learner progression.
• Manage student behaviour and ensure safety (including on-site animals).
• Liaise with parents, external agencies, and attend meetings.
• Engage in community-based and occasional residential activities.

Requirements:

• Minimum 12 months’ experience working with young people in similar settings.
• Energetic, patient, flexible, empathetic, and capable of building relationships.
• Commitment to safeguarding and willingness to undergo Enhanced DBS checks.
