Job overview

This is a very exciting opportunity to join a forward thinking department with a long track record of success in Primary, Key Stage 3, IGCSE and A-level, and a thriving school with an outstanding reputation in both local and international sport.

The EIC are seeking to appoint a dynamic, innovative and driven teacher to successfully guide the students through their sporting development. Teachers must be qualified to teach across Primary and Key Stage 3, and with a minimum of 2 years experience of teaching the UK National Curriculum either in the UK or internationally. You will be responsible for delivering Physical Education to Primary and KS3.

Athletics, Basketball, Football, Swimming and Volleyball form the mainstay of our focused competitive sports where we have an esteemed record within the local community. Innovation and a dynamic vision are imperative to help ensure the school maintains its sporting edge.

The Physical Education Department is a leading department within the school, producing outstanding results and is blessed with a 4-lane 25m pool, 8-a-side astroturf football pitch, 2 full-size basketball/volleyball courts.

As well as liaising closely with the Head of PE, you will be responsible for delivering the curriculum to Primary students and Key Stage 3. The PE department leads the school in their delivery of extra curricular activities, various local sport tournaments and international sports tours. We are looking for individuals who would be willing to make significant contributions to the wider life of the school, including running extra-curricular activities.

GCSE Physical Education has always been one of our most popular GCSE choices with students opting to undertake A-Level PE. Sport is a central feature of our school, with an emphasis on engagement and participation, as well as an enjoyment of winning a variety of district, regional and national trophies across a plethora of sports.

Please apply via TES or email to headofadmin@eic.edu - attaching a C.V. in English & letter of application by Friday 28th of February.

We have a strict safeguarding policy in place; as we are an international school you will be required to obtain a certificate from the Child Exploitation & On-line Protection Centre/ACRO https://www.acro.police.uk/ as well as CRB Enhanced disclosure or ‘Certificado de Penales/Certificado de Delitos de Naturaleza S.’ (Spain) https://cita-previa.mjusticia.gob.es/citaprevia/#!/es/newAppointment?uuid=020a-389cc-ea4d-fe060

Upon accepting the post, full working residency status in Spain will be required with NIE/TIE in place in advance. We are only able to respond to short-listed applicants.

The English International College, located near Marbella on the Costa del Sol, was founded in the summer of 1982. Established to be ‘free of all political, racial or religious prejudice and originally composed of just five classrooms, the school was opened with a roll of 32 primary and secondary students.

Within a year, extended premises were acquired and the school began to function with complete Primary and Secondary Departments.

In November 1983, the college passed a full inspection by members of Her Majesty’s Inspectorate from Great Britain and was later recognised by the Ministerio de Educación y Ciéncias in Spain, having received its accreditation on the 23rd March 1984 from the Consejería de Educación of the Junta de Andalucía. The college was admitted into the National Association of British Schools in Spain at the same time. The school grew steadily and, in 1993, it obtained membership of the European Council of International Schools. From September of that year, it became licensed to accept Spanish nationals at all levels.

The college was originally a privately owned institution; it later became an S.A.L (cooperative) body before exploring various other organisational structures which would best serve and protect its integrity. The English International College is now an Educational Trust, served by legal and financial trustees, to whom the school and its auditors are responsible.

During its history, the EIC has been proud of its successes: examination results have been consistently impressive and students have gone on to study at many of the most prestigious universities and colleges around the world, including Oxbridge and Harvard.
