We are looking for both career changers and recent graduates to train as mathematics teachers.
Dulwich College is the lead school of the South London Hub of the National Maths & Physics SCITT, a school centred, subject specialised teacher training programme designed to help address the acute shortage of Maths and Physics teachers.
The SCITT approach is different to traditional teacher training in the following ways:
· Trainees on the programme are in school from day one and at the end of the year are awarded both qualified teacher status (QTS) and a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE).
· Trainees undertake a main school placement at one of our partner schools (spanning the comprehensive, grammar and independent sectors) and also a second, six-week placement at a contrasting school.
· Trainees teach four days per week and spend the fifth at Dulwich College for subject and professional studies training, designed and delivered by leading practitioners. The course is highly subject specialised: trainees receive 14.5 days of physics specific training over the year.
· Successful applicants will receive a £29,000 tax free bursary for the training year. There are also more generous scholarships available from the Institute of Physics (IOP), which many of our current trainees have successfully applied for. Trainees can take out a Student Loan if required to cover the tuition fee of £9,535.
· For trainees who left education some time ago, there are subject knowledge enhancement courses of various lengths available, for which trainees receive an additional bursary for completing.
Entry requirements for candidates are UK settled status, plus a UK first- or second-class bachelor’s degree (or overseas equivalent) in a relevant subject, in addition to a love of their subject and a desire to work with young people.

About Dulwich College
Dulwich College is an academically selective independent boys’ school in south east London with a tradition of inspired teaching, genuine scholarship and co- curricular breadth. We are a school committed to providing a wealth of opportunities to pupils and colleagues within a nurturing, equitable and caring ethos.
There are approximately 1,630 boys on the school roll, of whom some 130 are boarders. There is a strong history of diversity at the College, reflecting that of south east London generally, but also that we are committed to an expanding programme of means-tested access. Currently about 30% of pupils have such an award but we hope to increase this to 50% in the coming years.
Situated in 70 acres, yet only 12 minutes by train from central London, the College enjoys outstanding academic, co-curricular and sporting facilities, including The Laboratory, a RIBA National Award-winning Science and Arts building. There has also been an extensive refurbishment of its iconic Grade II* listed Barry Buildings and surrounding landscaping.
Further information about the College can be found on our website www.dulwich.org.uk.
