Job overview

Welcome to Shoreham Academy – a unique, successful, and dynamic school at the heart of the communities of Shoreham and Southwick. The moment you walk through the door at Shoreham Academy you can feel the buzz, energy and excitement of an inclusive school that focuses on the enrichment, enhancement and learning of all children.

We are an 11-18, non-selective academy where everyone – staff and students alike – strive to be the best they can be. We see each child as an individual and seek to give them an education which best suits their abilities and interests. As adults we also see ourselves as a work in progress and invest heavily in our own professional development to remain challenged by what we do and inspirational in what we can give. We seek to employ enthusiastic, dynamic, and inspiring staff to join us in working creatively with our young people and enabling them all to achieve great things.

We focus on nurturing the whole child; our broad and balanced curriculum is complemented by a wide-ranging and exciting programme of extracurricular activities. There is something for every child at Shoreham Academy – whatever their interests, whatever their abilities. All students participate in the Shoreham Academy Experience with the expectation of fulfilling a number of ‘pledges’ in preparation for adult life.

Shoreham Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life-changing education to children and young people across England. United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check.

We always appoint on merit, and we are open to discussing flexible working options.

We are seeking to appoint a full-time Premises Manager to join our outstanding academy.

We work in a £40m state-of-the-art building built in 2012 and the Premises Manager will contribute to the smooth running of the academy site by organising and managing areas of responsibility including cleaning, security, repairs and minor maintenance works, caretaking, health and safety and security of the site. The Premises Manager will be responsible for managing all the premises compliance, health and safety, policies, procedures, risk assessments and project work.

The successful candidate will lead a resourceful, hardworking team supporting many aspects of school life and especially the premises and maintenance provisions at our academy. An ability to motivate, lead and develop a team will be required as well as the ability to communicate well with all stakeholders inside our large and diverse staff team and with our contractors, suppliers, parents and the general public.

This position will likely suit someone with experience in a similar role, possibly but not necessarily within a school environment. All members of the premises team undertake duties during the school day with our students and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate that they have a positive attitude to working with and supporting our young people.

If, having read the detailed job description and person specification, you are confident you could fulfil this role, we look forward to receiving your application. If you would like to have an informal chat about the role or come in for a quick visit then please contact Tim Harkins, Business Director on 01273 274100 or email: tim.harkins@shoreham-academy.org
