Job overview

Cheltenham College Preparatory School are looking to appoint a highly motivated and inspirational Trumpet Teacher to work within our thriving Music Department.

The teacher will report to the Head of Department (currently the Assistant Head Teacher) and work closely with other staff. They will be part of a team of vocal and instrumental visiting music teachers and will be responsible for the further development of Prep’s trumpeters.

The successful candidate must be prepared to teach the full range of ability from complete beginners (instilling a love of music and learning the instrument) through to more advanced young players who reach the higher ABRSM grade standard.

The ability to teach across genres, including classical, jazz, and pop is desirable. It is likely that additional opportunities will exist for the direction of ensembles and sectional rehearsals.

At The Prep, we are lucky to have ‘Lake House’ to house the music department. This period building, essentially an old converted house, provides wonderful space and facilities for the pupils. The wood panelled lobby is ideal for more intimate recitals and informal pupils’ concerts. There are two large classrooms for class music, a fully equipped music technology room housing iMacs and digital keyboards, a recording studio, office space, instrument storage, space for a music library and 10 individual teaching/practice rooms.
