The Island Private School of Limassol is a polysystemic educational hub that offers 3 programmes (International Baccalaureate, Waldorf & Montessori) under one roof. We follow a holistic approach, offering a full-day learning environment (08:00-18:00) for international students of diverse cultural backgrounds.

Starting from Pre-Primary, the educational journey at our school supports students on their learning path, tailoring education to individual needs, aspirations and connecting it to real-life experiences and up-to-date practices. 

We are now seeking a competent, experienced and, above all, passionate Primary School English Language Teacher to join our Primary Years Programme (PYP) team from August 2025.

The ideal candidate will support non-native English-speaking students in developing their English language proficiency, enabling them to access the school curriculum and thrive in both academic and social settings. The role requires an educator with a passion for language teaching and a strong commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.


Responsibilities: 

Teaching and Curriculum Deliver:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality EAL lessons tailored to the individual needs of students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Provide support to students across various levels of English proficiency, from beginners to more advanced learners.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure that EAL students are supported in all areas of the curriculum.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies that enhance students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in English.
  • Offer one-on-one or small group language intervention as necessary to support student development.

Student Assessment and Feedback:

  • Design and implement formative and summative assessments aligned with PYP objectives.
  • Provide regular, constructive feedback to students to support their language development and overall growth.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.

Collaboration and Professional Development:

  • Work collaboratively with PYP teachers and coordinators to ensure horizontal and vertical alignment of the curriculum.
  • Participate in regular planning meetings, PYP training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Classroom and Learning Environment:

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages active participation and a love of learning.
  • Use a variety of resources, including technology, to enhance language learning and engagement.

Other:

  • Participate in a wider school community activities and committees .
  • Organise and facilitate extracurricular activities, clubs, other events to further engage students in the arts beyond the classroom, including field trips.
  • Stay updated on current trends, techniques, and best practices in art education.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and contribute to the growth of the arts department.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, English, TESOL/TEFL/CELTA, or a related field.
  • A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • At least 2 years of experience teaching EAL in a primary school.
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet the varying needs of EAL students.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a nurturing and inclusive environment.
  • Proficiency in integrating technology into teaching to enhance language learning
  • Positive attitude to challenging situations and tasks.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a positive school culture.


Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 - 16:00.

Recruitment process:

  1. Panel interview including Primary Principal, Primary EAL Coordinator and Employee Success Manager (30 minutes).
  2. Trial lesson (60 minutes). 
  3. Interview with the Head of School (20 minutes).
