Driving improvement, transforming lives and the community

The GORSE Academies Trust is renowned for its work in transforming the life chances of children and young people from some of the most disadvantaged communities in the country. Based in the Leeds city region with 17 trust establishments including Leeds Teaching School Hub and GORSE SCITT, the trust has formed a model of excellence which is receiving national attention because of its positive impact on all pupils including those whose lives are characterised by privation. The trust has grown slowly and with great care since it was formed in 2011 and it is still the case that our schools work together in an intimate and highly productive manner.

Richmond Hill Academy stands proudly at the heart of that community of schools, at the same time celebrating and embracing the vibrant city region which it serves. The academy was recognised as a Good provider in their Ofsted inspection of March 2022, with many areas of its work judged to be Outstanding. The academy prides itself on every child, including those who are most disadvantaged, making progress above and beyond expectations, whatever their starting points.

We are proud to have Rainbow Base at the core of our school. This is an additionally resourced provision for 52 children with a range of complex communication and learning difficulties. The work of the Rainbow Base team is remarkable and of national significance.

If you do decide to apply for this role, you will need to be a leader who embraces a culture of true inclusivity which ensures that every child and every professional has the right to succeed at a high level. You will also genuinely value

the importance of partnership work and be able to display your support for our values which are built upon diligence, integrity, rectitude and kindness. You will have the vision and determination to build upon the portfolio of achievements that have already been established at Richmond Hill Academy and a strong track record of unwavering dedication to excellence; you will not only further develop the learning experience for every child in our school – you will have a continuing and profound impact on our whole community.

The successful candidate will enjoy a rich network of support and will have the opportunity to secure further progression, if desired, within our nationally recognised trust. We are very proud of what we have achieved so far but we continue to be humble and restless in our determination to provide the very best standard of education possible.
