Job overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary Art IGCSE Teacher to join our dynamic Secondary team.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective Art lessons aligned with the IGCSE Art and Design syllabus.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including gifted and talented students and those with special educational needs.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, such as project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, and technology integration, to foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, experimentation, and risk-taking.
  • Assess student progress regularly using a variety of formative and summative assessments, and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Prepare and administer formal assessments, including coursework and examinations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Art curriculum, ensuring alignment with the IGCSE Art and Design syllabus and the school's educational philosophy.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and research in art education.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and high-quality Art program across all key stages.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Share expertise and knowledge with colleagues through mentoring, coaching, and collaborative planning.
  • Embrace innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance student learning.
  • Communicate effectively with parents about student progress and expectations.
  • Build strong relationships with parents to foster a supportive learning environment.
  • Organize parent-teacher conferences and workshops to share information about the Art program.

Qualifications:

·          Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related discipline; Master’s degree in Education or Fine Arts is advantageous.

·        Valid teaching certification in Art or equivalent qualification, with a focus on secondary education.

 Minimum of 2-3 years of experience teaching Art, specifically within the IGCSE framework or other internationally recognized curriculum.

 Proven expertise in IGCSE Art curriculum requirements, assessment standards, and portfolio preparation.

 Strong technical skills in various art forms, a well-rounded understanding of art history, and familiarity with digital art tools.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Key Skills:

  • Artistic Skills: Drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, digital art.
  • Pedagogical Skills: Lesson planning, differentiation, assessment, classroom management, and behavior management.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Communication, collaboration, empathy, and cultural awareness.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using art software and equipment.
