Self-Employed Japanese Teacher

The Yehudi Menuhin School, a specialist music school based in Stoke d'Abernon, Cobham is seeking to appoint a part-time self-employed Japanese Teacher to teach our pupils both at GCSE and A Level. Applicants must be a native level speaker or near native level speaker of Japanese, and have experience teaching Japanese to different levels of bilingual pupils.

You will be required to teach 3 hours per week (ideally Monday 9.30am until 12.45pm).

The salary for this role is £45 per hour.

The Key Duties and Responsibilities are as follows:

Teaching and Learning

• To prepare and deliver outstanding Japanese lessons to individuals or small groups of bilingual pupils.
• To prepare pupils for A Level and/or GCSE Japanese exams.
• To instil a love of learning and a passion for languages and communication.
• To assess pupils' progress and mark work diligently and promptly.
• To provide excellent teaching and learning resources.
• To write end-of-term reports, enter half-termly effort and attainment grades, and set exams as required.
• To liaise with the Head of MFL about all matters relating to the position of Japanese teacher.

Safeguarding

• To ensure pupils are safe from harm, abuse and neglect.
• To log any concerns on the school's CPOMS pastoral reporting system.
• To uphold the school's ethos of safeguarding and child protection.
• To maintain professional, caring and positive relationships with pupils.
• To attend safeguarding training as required by the school.

General

• To display exemplary professionalism at all times.
• To attend staff meetings, INSET and parent consultations as required.
• To uphold the school's values and ethics and abide by the staff code of conduct.
• To perform other duties, as reasonably requested by the Head.
