The Corner School is a specialist school for Children with Social Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs, graded good by Ofsted, and run by the charity Unlocking Potential. We have children in both key stage 1 and 2, class sizes are no bigger than five children, and all children have talented 1:1 Teaching Assistants.

Our school follows the national curriculum, and we have an excellent professional development opportunity to ensure staff are invested in and are supported. We have a very friendly and excellent dedicated team of staff who are very proud of the children and their achievements.

Role Overview:

We are looking for an skilled, enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistants to join our small and friendly school community.

As an enthusiastic, motivated, and skilled Teaching Assistant, you will be a key part of our small and friendly school community. You will provide learning and behavioural support, working alongside teachers, therapists, and parents to help our children excel in their learning and personal development. You will have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, be resilient and experienced in working with children with SEMH needs, and be passionate about helping our children achieve their full potential.

Duties and Responsibilities

Learning, Behaviour and Personal Development Support

·      Support the class teacher, taking a lead on preparation and delivery of learning activities and resources. 

·      Contribute to the planning and evaluation and improvement of teaching and learning activities, sharing appropriate ideas, offering constructive suggestions, and giving feedback where appropriate.

·      Support the class teacher with assessment of learning activities.

·      Support the learning of individual pupils or small groups of children across KS1 and KS2.

·      Plan and deliver phonics interventions (independently) using the RWI programme. 

·      Provide literacy and numeracy support to enable pupils to access the wider curriculum. 

·      Use subject knowledge and skills to support teaching and learning in a curriculum area.

·      Use and apply effective learning strategies, support all pupils to participate in learning activities.

·      Recognise and respond to pupils’ individual needs and targets, using appropriate equipment and materials and modifying resources as necessary to support pupils to participate and progress. 


Position

  • Hours of work: Full Time 38.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri), Term Time working
  • Location: The Corner School, Brent, London
  • Salary: Actual pay for Term-Time working: £25,392 (inclusive of 6.6 weeks paid holiday allowance) Full time equivalent: £28,956
