Trimdon Hill School in Durham - our New Options School will have capacity for 40 pupils and is due to open in June 2025. We're recruiting for a SEN Teacher to grow our new school.
Our New Options School will cater for pupils with a variety of needs including Autism.
- Up to £42,000 per annum, depending on experience (not pro rata)
- 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday
- Term Time only
- Permanent

Through your knowledge and passion, you will have a real impact on the lives of pupils and young people. As an SEN Teacher, you will take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises pupil’s achievement and ability to develop.
About the role
- To secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the Headteacher;
- To teach a range of subjects as necessary to ensure the effective delivery of the school’s primary and secondary curriculums. Work may sometimes be undertaken outside the main teaching area;
- In consultation with the Headteacher undertake other identified areas of responsibility as necessary to ensure effective delivery of the school’s curriculum;
- To share the school’s responsibility to support and promote the learning, personal development and well-being of all students.
General Responsibilities
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and young people;
- Work in accordance with professional practice, statutory and legal requirements and the policies of The Wenlock School;
- Take on specific tasks related to the day to day administration and organisation of the school;
- Take responsibility for specific areas of work which will be reviewed annually then negotiated and agreed within the performance management cycle and school improvement process;
- Take on any additional responsibilities, which might from time to time be determined.
