Based in the heart of Chester City Centre, Abbey School is an Independent Special School for young people with autism aged 4-19 years whom may have additional learning difficulties and behaviours that challenge.
Due to the continued growth and success for Abbey School, we are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic teachers to join our team. From Early Years Foundation Stage to Key Stage 3, we have opportunities for educators eager to support the next generation.
This role is full-time
Salary: Main Pay Scale
Opportunities available: EYFS all the way through to KS3
Start date: February half-term, Easter and May starts are available
This role is not suitable for NQT/ECT's.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
- Planning, preparing and delivering learning activities to enable children and young people to enjoy learning, make progress and experience a sense of wellbeing.
- Creating a positive learning environment, reflective of the school’s culture and ethos as set out in its curriculum purpose statement.
- Leading a class team to provide outstanding teaching and learning for all children and young people.
- Assessing, recording and reporting progress for children and young people within the class.
- Preparing for and contributing to Person Centred Reviews.
- Working in partnership with parents, colleagues and other professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
You will be joining a friendly, enthusiastic and well qualified staff team and will find this post challenging, stimulating and rewarding. An excellent comprehensive in-service training and an induction programme will be provided by the school.

We meet the needs of our pupils in Grade II* listed buildings dating back to 1754, which are located in the heart of the historic city centre of Chester, in the beautiful surroundings of Abbey Square.
