RESPONSIBLE TO: SENDCo

Sir Harry Smith Community College is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant – level 4, to join our forward thinking, dynamic school that provides high quality learning and teaching.

The purpose of this role is to work alongside the SENDCo using strategies from the Teacher of the Deaf, to create an effective and happy learning environment for our children with hearing impairments. The applicant must be qualified to at least BSL level 2 as a minimum. The applicant will be required to support our young people to communicate, and support any additional learning needs they may have, both in and out of the classroom. The ability to communicate positively with young people and work alongside senior leadership, staff, specialist teachers and parents is imperative. This role requires an individual that is confident, organised and will enjoy working within a supportive and committed team dedicated to achieving the very best for the young people in our community.

Sir Harry Smith Community College is a mixed academy secondary school and Sixth Form for students aged 11-18.

The school was opened in 1953 on the site of Whittlesey Workhouse and is named after the Army General Sir Harry Smith who was born nearby.  The school converted to academy status in 2012 and is part of the Aspire Learning Trust along with local primary schools, Park Lane and New Road.
