Job overview

I am delighted to welcome you to St Wilfrid’s Church of England Academy, a high-performing single academy trust in the North West.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Sixth Form Study Supervisor to work alongside our highly skilled and committed Sixth Form staff within the Academy.

Primarily, the role is to ensure that our Sixth Form students have a positive and professional environment in which to work. We are therefore looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual who is capable of forging strong relationships with staff and students alike. The successful candidate will need to radiate a ‘can do attitude’ as they motivate and support our students with their studies.

You will be responsible for managing the Sixth Form learning space to ensure A-Level and BTEC students can access quality learning resources and careers information. Alongside this, you will be responsible for monitoring and managing elements of student attendance.

This role is fundamental to the success of our students and you will play a front-line role in helping us live out our maxim; ‘Big Enough to Challenge, Small Enough to Care’.

As a Church of England Academy, who you are is just as important to us as your skills and talents. Our staff are dedicated, compassionate and reflect the Academy vision and values in their day to day lives.

We invite you to explore this exciting opportunity to join a thriving educational community. If you are a passionate and experienced finance professional who thrives in a supportive environment and shares our commitment to excellence, we encourage you to submit your application to Mrs K Nightingale, at knightingale@saintwilfrids.com.

About St Wilfrid's Church of England Academy

ABOUT ST WILFRID'S C OF E ACADEMY

St Wilfrid’s Church of England Academy provides a faith-led education for 11 to 18 year olds serving the Borough of Blackburn with Darwen and parts of Pennine Lancashire. We seek to provide an excellent education based upon a strong Christian foundation, as we develop all who work, learn and serve in our community. We benefit from purpose-built accommodation with excellent facilities. All in all, it is a wonderful place to work and learn. Visitors to St Wilfrid’s comment on the calm and purposeful environment, the friendly nature of our students and the welcoming nature of our staff.

We have a reputation for high academic standards. As a comprehensive school, we pride ourselves on providing teaching and learning which engages all students. The recent SIAMS inspector stated:

“Almost everyone describes the academy as being ‘one big family’ where all care for and help one another. This is understood to be the outworking of Christian values and teachings which underpin excellent behaviour and relationships. Students recognise in teachers a commitment to serve which for many is an aspect of their Christian faith. This prompts them to strive to provide the best and most supportive opportunities for all students. The result is exemplary academic and pastoral support which enables students to make good progress, attain excellent results and develop spiritually, morally, socially and culturally (SMSC 2016).”

MISSION STATEMENT

“St Wilfrid’s Church of England Academy sees education as an integral  part of the mission of the Church to proclaim God as Creator, Christ as Redeemer and the Holy Spirit as Inspirer of all that is good in human living.  The main purpose of the school is to provide an excellent education, both academic and social, in a Christian context, to enable its students to grow up to take their full part as citizens of this world and the next.”
