We are seeking an outstanding, enthusiastic, and inspirational Subject Leader of English to join our dynamic team at The Heath School. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the English curriculum, inspire students, and lead a dedicated team to deliver exceptional outcomes.
About the Role
As the Subject Leader of English, you will:
- Lead the development of an engaging and rigorous English curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of all learners.
- Inspire and motivate a team of English teachers, promoting a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.
- Be supported by a Key Stage Lead for both KS3 and KS4, who work collaboratively with ten other teachers of English with a range of experience and expertise, from ECTs to senior leaders.
- Monitor and enhance teaching and learning within the department, using innovative strategies to achieve excellence.
- Manage departmental resources effectively and contribute to whole-school initiatives.
- Track student progress and use data to implement strategies for raising achievement.
- Foster a love of literature, language, and communication in students, preparing them for future success.
- Have the opportunity to shape whole school development by being part of an extended leadership team.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Be an experienced and successful teacher/leader of English with a proven track record of delivering excellent results with the capacity to move the outcomes of our students to above national.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Be a passionate advocate for the subject, with innovative ideas for engaging teaching and learning.
- Be a passionate about working with children and seeing them flourish.
- Possess excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Have a clear vision for the development of English within the school.
- Possess the relevant skill set to coach and develop each member of the team to further develop their teaching.
