Harlow College is seeking to appoint the following staff:

 

Teacher with specialism in Chemistry to teach in the Academy of Health, Science and Sport.

 

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented person who will be able to play a key role in preparing, planning and delivering learning on our Vocational/Technical science qualifications. Within the Academy we run A level/vocational sciences/T levels and are looking to run new qualifications to meet the Educational Reforms starting September 2025 in Applied/Medical Science and Environmental Science.

 

As a flexible, creative and pro-active professional you’ll be expected to use a range of effective and appropriate teaching and learning initiatives that engage, motivate and enable all learners to develop and succeed, as well as maximising student potential. You will also be working to address individual learning needs, overcome barriers to learning and encourage autonomous learning.

 

Experience Required

 

  • Chemistry/Environmental science related degree
  • Curriculum knowledge and, where relevant, industrial experience
  • Successful delivery of an A level Chemistry-based science programme
  • Previous experience of planning of lessons, preparation of resources, delivery and assessment for a Science programme
  • Experience of using a range resources to promote learning, including digital resources
  • Creative problem-solving skills

Harlow is strategically placed on the West Essex/Hertfordshire border at the centre of the London, Stansted, Cambridge corridor, one of the fastest growing and economically important areas in the UK. Significant local employers include GlaxoSmith Kline, Raytheon UK, Stansted Airport and Public Health England who are soon to relocate to Harlow. About the College

 Harlow College is a strong and successful further education college which aims to provide our students with “Not just courses, careers”, providing them with the skills to achieve 1st class destinations and employment.  

We place learners at the heart of all we do, and were graded as good by Ofsted who commented that ‘Learners make good progress because their teachers plan lessons and good resources that make learning challenging and stimulating’. Our progress measure (value-added) places us as the top college in the country for A Level progress and in the top 1% for academic and vocational progress.  

We offer the widest range of post-16 courses in the area and we have excellent links with employers - giving access to work placements that genuinely help improve career prospects. We also run an extensive range of Apprenticeships including higher apprenticeships which complement our degrees and foundation degrees offered through Anglia Ruskin University and our own Higher National Certificate and Diploma provision. In addition, we work extensively across the area working with adults by providing short vocational courses leading directly to employment.
