Leeds City College is seeking two talented Maths Teachers to deliver engaging Functional Skills and/or GCSE courses. These positions are Variable Hours contracts in the first instance but with the potential to move into permanent posts later.

We are developing a bank of flexible teachers, who might later move into permanent positions. We welcome applications from experienced Maths Teachers keen to join our dynamic team and contribute to our mission of providing high-quality education.

Our Adult provision was graded Outstanding by Ofsted in May 2022. The team is based predominantly at the Enfield Centre, with 16-19 (sixth form) groups in North Street and a smaller provision in the city centre of Leeds, Deacon House, and some outreach centres. We teach Monday through Thursday from 09:30 to 21:00 and Fridays from 09:30 to 15:00. 

What You Will Do

Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.

Develop the essential knowledge and understanding to teach ESOL learners.

Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course.

Monitor students to achieve their targets and develop their skills to enable progression.

About You

You should hold a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE, Delta). Celta is not recognised in the UK as a full teaching qualification, but successful applicants can be supported to complete a L5 Teaching Qualification with the college with department financial support.

English and Maths at Level 2 or above and a willingness to improve in one or both disciplines to level 3 or above

Have experience teaching Maths at GCSE level.

Ability to plan and deliver quality teaching across identified modules
