Job overview

St Thomas More is a good school (Ofsted 2022) committed to high standards of growth and professional development. The school is popular – always oversubscribed beyond our admission limit – and well respected in the local community. We are a successful school with a large sixth form located near Willenhall, with easy access to the M6 motorway network.

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Teacher of Art to join our team here at St Thomas More Catholic school. We are seeking candidates who are enthusiastic and highly motivated to make a significant difference to the life chances of our students. Applicants will be expected to take an innovative approach across all areas within Art and enhance our growth departmentally.

As a dedicated, dynamic and committed Teacher of Art, you will have a clear passion for Art and Photography or Graphic communication, with strong subject pedagogy across different Art disciplines.

Your priorities will be to develop, plan and deliver challenging and engaging lessons for all learners. Our KS3 Art curriculum explores mostly 2D materials however we do have access to a kiln and 3D working space if this is a strength you hold and would like to develop in our department.

Our subjects at GCSE & A Level are popular subjects within the school and our students consistently achieve strong outcomes. A Level Photography is a popular subject within the school. We have a specialist Photography suite that is focused on students exploring images digitally. Students use the latest version of Photoshop. The ideal candidate should be confident in using Photoshop or have a desire to learn and upskill themselves with support from the department.

GCSE Art (Graphic Communication) is again a popular subject within the school, with large group sizes and two groups running every academic year. GCSE Art (Fine Art) also has strong group sizes, with both subjects offering a mixed diet of materials and techniques throughout KS4 help students maximise their attainment.

St Thomas More Catholic School is a very special place. Students are friendly, enthusiastic and eager to learn. Staff are caring, supportive and dedicated to finding the true potential in every one of our students. If you have a passion for the creative arts and a commitment to ensuring every student achieves their very best, we want to hear from you.
