Horizon School seeks to appoint a Teacher at our Upper School site in Lowestoft to start as soon as possible from September 2024.
Horizon School is a two site Pupil Referral Unit (KS1 – KS4 site and Tier 4 In-patient Youth and Adolescent CAMHS) in North Suffolk. Children come to Horizon School for intervention when they require support in managing their behaviour. This can often be at a point of personal crisis or where their underlying needs haven’t yet been identified, which are therefore creating a barrier to them accessing mainstream education.
Role
Teaching English to classes of 8 students ranging from year 7-year 11. We are seeking a flexible teacher who is able to deliver high quality English teaching. Classes consist of students from the same year group and all students have SEMH needs. Most students are with us for one term (12 weeks) and are dual registered with their mainstream school. All students have a Personalised Action Plan and a Regulation Support Profile to support the teacher to adapt learning and remove or manage any barriers to learning.
Horizon School Management Committee value the importance of Continuing Professional Development and will support the successful candidate with completing any training necessary to fulfil their role and career development.
We are looking for a Teacher who:
• is approachable in nature, supportive, understanding
• is able to inspire, challenge and motivate students
• is an excellent teaching practitioner
Has excellent classroom management skills
• is able to deliver adaptive lessons that enable all learners to access lessons
• passionate about the value of education
• demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Is flexible and able to work as part of a small team to meet the needs of students
Our current team of staff are highly committed to supporting our students to ensure they get as much as they can out of their education at Horizon School. If you feel you could contribute to the school and join us on our journey, we would welcome a letter of application from you.
This School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Any offer of employment to this post will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and two references.
