Job overview
The BOA Group is a Multi-Academy Trust of specialist academies located in Birmingham city centre, in the hub of the creative and digital industries. Though based in Birmingham, the academies recruit from across the wider Midlands region.
BOA Digital Technologies, a brand new 11-18 Free School, welcomed its first cohort of Year 7 students in September 2022. In September 2024 we were full with children in year 7 through to 9. The school will continue to grown organically until we are an academy of 900 with 300 in the sixth form. Our vision is to offer a truly unique and distinctive education and provide a new model of teaching underpinned by digital skills and learning. Located in the heart of Birmingham’s growing technology and digital hub, close to industrial and academic partners, and with first-class facilities, BOA Digital is looking to meet the UK’s growing need for a high-class digital workforce.
We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, confident and enthusiastic teacher to plan, prepare and deliver outstanding lessons within our Computer Science and Digital Technologies Department. This appointment is crucial to the growth of the academic and specialist sides of the curriculum. Our Digital equipment is first class and brand new and goes beyond PCs and MACs to include 3D labs, radio suites and a TV Studio. There are plenty of opportunities to work alongside all our departments with the digital specialism.
You will encourage a climate of mutual support in which self-confidence and self-esteem can grow and an effective department team is established and nurtured.
The role is suitable to either an ECT or experienced teacher. A full induction package and CPD opportunities are offered to help develop your teaching practice. UPS is available for a suitably qualified colleague and a TLR available for a colleague with the right experience. This would be negotiated upon appointment.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A strong track record as a Teacher of computer science or IT, with a passion that is evident in their day-to-day classroom practice.
- Qualified teacher status and a degree.
- The ability to inspire high achievement in students from all backgrounds.
- The ability to work in collaboration with other members of staff to develop and manage projects.
- Exceptional personal organisation and time management skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- The ability to guide students’ academic, personal and professional development, as a tutor, in accordance with the academy’s guidelines and procedures.
- An understanding of the key national and educational policies and issues.
- Presence, enthusiasm, good sense of humour and approachability.
- An excellent record of punctuality.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference to the future of education within a world class academy. If you share the academy’s vision and ambitions, possess a strong desire to work within an ethos of creative collaboration and partnership and want to have a positive impact on young people, families, and the community then we would be delighted to hear from you.
The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Closing date for applications is Monday 2nd December, although if appropriate we may interview earlier.
This role is suitable for candidates who can start in January, April or September 2025.
