The PE department is made up of nine full-time and two part time physical education teachers who are supported by members of academic staff in coaching games and a number of external coaches. All members of the department are expected to teach across all three sections of the school: pre-prep (reception – Yr. 2), junior school (Yrs. 3-6) and senior school (Yrs. 7-13).

Pupils at Exeter school have timetabled PE and Games lessons from Yr. 3-9 and pupils in Yrs. 10-13 continue their curriculum games lessons throughout their time in school. Extra-curricular activities are extensive with clubs and specialist sessions at lunchtime and clubs, activities and practices after school. Exeter School field teams in the core sports of Hockey, Netball and cricket for girls and Rugby, Hockey and cricket for boys as well as competitive squads in sports including athletics, cross country, football, swimming, squash. Fixtures take place at weekends and during the week with teams competing against some of the best schools in the south-west as well as regional and national competitions. We also aim to provide competitive opportunities for all our pupils through bock fixtures and internal house competitions. Exeter School has excellent facilities which include 25-acres of playing fields, a floodlight astro development, swimming pool sports hall, newly refurbished gym, studio and aerobic room.

The role will attract a competitive salary as well as generous benefits including employer pension contribution, free school lunch during term time, free on-site parking, discretionary staff discount on school fees and use of indoor swimming pool and fitness suite.
