Erdington Academy is an academy within the Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust (FMAT) and located near the centre of Birmingham. At Erdington Academy we are committed to the highest standards of presentation, behaviour and achievement. A calm, purposeful environment is the key to successful learning and achievement. Our mission is to Enrich Lives and Transform futures and this is at the heart of our curriculum.
The five core values of the Academy are:
Excellence – We strive for the highest quality to ensure excellent outcomes
Dedication – We believe there is dignity in hard work and effort
Ambition – We want the very best for our students
Integrity – We believe in openness and transparency
Tradition – We believe in old fashioned manners, courtesy and respect
Traditional values are encouraged so that students model respectful and courteous behaviour at all times. We want our students to be confident, responsible citizens who have an understanding of the world around them; we encourage them to make a positive contribution to the school and to their local communities to prepare them to excel in modern Britain. Why should a child's life chances be determined by their background? Demographics do not determine destiny.
Academic achievement is obviously vital so the students have the best chance of achieving their ambitions. The link with Fairfax School in Sutton Coldfield benefits all our students; in fact, any Year 11 student who achieves the required grades will gain entry into the Fairfax Sixth Form.
Extra-curricular activities are also a strength of the academy. As a Leisure Centre and sports hub of the Erdington area there are a variety of sports on offer including free activities for young people and families. Also the academy, is pleased to host a range of local clubs and societies.
The successful candidate will be driven by a deep-seated desire to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of children. They must be able to motivate, develop and inspire through their love of education and their demonstrable talent as a professional. If you have a proven track record of success, of generating momentum and of bringing about change, this role could be perfect for you.
We have a long track record of ‘growing our own’ and are committed to providing professional development opportunities for all staff. These include:
· Access to Nationally Recognised Professional Qualifications and other external programmes.
· Our in-house Leadership Pathways programme which offers bespoke training for staff at all levels of development.
The successful candidate will:
- raise outcomes
- be fully committed to social mobility and a holistic approach to education
- have the students’ best interests at the core of all their thoughts and actions
- have commitment, passion and determination that every student will reach his/her full potential
- maintain the school's inclusive approach to all students
- demonstrate the inspirational leadership and management skills necessary to guide the school community through a time of complex national change and continuing challenge
- continue to build the strong home school relationship and the wider links in the community.
You will be joining:
- an autonomous, caring, inclusive school with a supportive Governing Body
- motivated and courteous students who are proud of their school
- an experienced Senior Leadership Team with a track record of raising standards, supported by hardworking and dedicated staff.
The health and wellbeing of our staff are important to us. We firmly believe that healthy, happy staff make for a positive and productive workforce, a thriving and dynamic environment and engaged and achieving young people. Our approach to staff wellbeing continues to evolve as we look for ways to further enhance the working environment and wellbeing of our staff.
We look forward to receiving your application to join our family.
