THE POST

Aldar Education is currently seeking an exceptional Teacher of Physical Education for Nursery to Year 13 at Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi commencing in the 2025-2026 Academic Year.

Mamoura British Academy is a British curriculum, mixed gender school until Year 9 and a girl’s only school from Year 10 onwards. It is located in a state of the art building in the heart of Abu Dhabi. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Tasks:

To deliver engaging lessons that inspire students to succeed in order to achieve the best possible outcomes 

A. Roles and Responsibilities include:

·  Teamwork and collaboration.

·  To be a good communicator at all levels.

·  Be committed to developing positive relationships with all members of the school community.

·  Working alongside fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons that meet the requirements of the curriculum.

·  Liaising with colleagues professionally and working flexibly.

·  Working with parents to ensure the happiness and best academic outcomes for all students.

·  Working cooperatively with curriculum support staff (where applicable) to support student development.

·  Acting as a form tutor and supporting the pastoral needs of students. 

B. Teaching and Learning:

·  A clear understanding of the British curriculum.

·  Organising classroom provision, learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive and engaging learning environment.

·  Planning, preparing and presenting sessions that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the classes taught.

·  Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative teaching.

·  Observing and assessing children in line with the school assessment policy.

·  Being reflective of the classroom provision, sessions taught, progress made, and adjusting environment, planning and curriculum to reflect this.

·  Ensure the Mamoura British Academy Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes are being embedded throughout the curriculum.

C. Assessment and Data:

·  Taking responsibility for the progress of classes taught.

·  Meeting requirements for the assessment and recording of students’ development using the schools designated assessment system.

·  Using data provided by assessments to influence further planning, provision and intervention.

·  Providing feedback to parents and carers on a students’ progress at Parent Teacher Conferences and other meetings. 

D. Behaviour Management and Duties

·  Follow the school’s Behaviour Policy.

·  Manage classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to students’ needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.

·  Maintain good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary within the school’s Behaviour Policy.

·  Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour, which are expected of pupils.

·  Have high expectations of behaviour, promoting self-control and independence of all learners.

·  Ensure the Mamoura Values DNA language and attitudes are being embedded throughout the curriculum.

·  Carry out duties as directed and within the school’s policy. 

E. Wider Professional Responsibilities

·  To work as part of a department team, supporting planning, assessment, resources and special events linked to that team.

·  Support the organising and taking part in school events, outings and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening.

·  Communicate effectively with parents/carers with regards to students’ achievements and well-being using school systems/processes such as CPOMS as appropriate.

·  Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.

·  Run ECAs in line with the sports programme as directed by Head of PE.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

· A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a Bachelor Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

· Minimum 2 year’s teaching experience in English National Curriculum teaching is desirable but ECTs will be considered

·  Teaching across the age ability range with proven success

·  Experience of working in more than one International School desirable

·  Experience of teaching the UK National Curriculum

·  Strong inter-personal skills

·  A commitment to School Vision and Mission Statement

·  Passion for education, teaching, and a belief in the potential of every student

·  The ability to work under pressure, problem-solve and be resilient

·  Commitment to continuing professional development (CPD)

·  A knowledge of teaching swimming would be advantageous

About Mamoura British Academy

Al Mamoura Academy is a partly co-educational international school located in Abu Dhabi, first accepting an intake of students in 2016. The school has primary and secondary areas, with the school’s primary division being co-educational and secondary being girls-only. As a newly built school, Al Mamoura Academy is able to boast of a huge range of modern teaching and recreational facilities, such as an auditorium, a swimming pool, numerous sports courts and halls, as well as a fully equipped library and extensive IT facilities. The curriculum at Al Mamoura Academy is primarily based on the English curriculum in primary phases, whilst secondary phases offer a wider range of international qualifications including GCSEs and A-level studies as well as a US Curriculum pathway. The school also offers Arabic and Islamic studies programmes should students wish to study them. In addition to this, the school has a wide range of extra-curricular activities available for students to take part in.
