Job overview

At OFG, we work smarter so you can spend more time doing the things you love!

How would you like to be paid for five days but only work four*?

Our colleagues’ wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do at OFG, so we’re always looking for new ways to improve everyone’s work/life balance. We’re taking part in a trial of the 4-Day Working Week, meaning that you could be working one day less a week (or equivalent).

If the trial is a success, we’ll be rolling the 4DWW out across the Group – so there’s never been a more exciting time to join #teamOFG!

Become a Teaching Assistant Apprentice at The Wenlock School part of Acorn Education and Care and start working towards yours.

About Us

The Wenlock School opened in September 2018. The Wenlock School is an Outstanding provision and a leading light for our young people and their families. The uniqueness of every child is recognised and valued, and our curriculum embraces the community, from which it exists, recognising and celebrating the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our growing cohort.

This opportunity is in Dudley, within commutable distance of Wolverhampton, Birmingham and surrounding areas.

We are really proud to say that in 2024, Outcomes First Group were officially certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the fifth year running.

The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice to join The Wenlock School to complete a recognised Teaching Assistant Level 3 Qualification whilst also learning to work within a school environment and have a real impact on pupil’s lives. Learners will build an advanced understanding of how to provide quality teaching and how to influence and support learners. Some of the areas of development include:

  • Contributing to the implementation of learning activities
  • Evaluating the performance of lesson plans and how to improve for the future
  • Working independently in teaching group and individual activities
  • Working in partnership with teachers to help support and deliver lesson plans and objectives

Entry Requirements

The Wenlock School will support you through your qualification alongside our Training Provider and you will have a dedicated mentor within school.

Your OJT must be relevant to the apprenticeship standard and will be supported by our school to provide you with new knowledge, skills and behaviours required for the role.

Welcome to The Wenlock School

 The Wenlock School

The Wenlock School offers an outstanding and therapeutic educational approach with a staff team dedicated and determined to support every individual. Our custom built school has been designed with specialised facilities, creating a unique environment, which will help our learners re-engage with their education supported by a personalised and purposeful curriculum. We will also embrace a raft of initiatives with personalised targets to ensure every child can make excellent progress, appropriate to their specific needs.  Many children come to us with very complex needs, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviour. We always look beyond the issues and potential barriers to learning and recognise the innate potential within. We invest time with each individual child to recognise and understand their learning needs so that we can put in place the right support package. Our expectations are very high for both behaviour and achievement, because we know that we can help children make much more progress than they would within a mainstream school environment
