Barrington Primary School is a popular, oversubscribed school with happy, motivated children and supportive staff. We provide a caring and stimulating environment, where all children have the opportunity to succeed. Barrington is a one form entry school with a special needs provision for children with speech, language and communication needs.

We pride ourselves in ensuring that not only do our pupils get a high quality educational experience but that they also access a range of enriching experiences and opportunities. Trips over the past year have included the Tower of London, Pizza Express and the Science Museum. We offer a wide range of club and instrumental lessons for our pupils to access also.

Barrington Primary School has been part of LSEAT (London South East Academy Trust) since September 2024. 


The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced teaching assistant to join our happy and supportive team. The successful applicant will work under the instruction of teaching staff, to support access to learning for pupils both in our mainstream class and also from our specialist provision. Duties also include preparing resources, maintaining records and fostering a stimulating environment in which to learn. High standards and a good sense of humour are essential.


Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in Maths and English qualified
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Preferably with/ Will have experience in supporting both mainstream and SEND pupils
  • Ability to motivate and inspire
  • Ability to adopt a patient, nurturing and resilient approach
  • Ability to work under their own initiative, flexibly and to adapt to the changing needs of the pupils
  • Be willing to undertake further CPD as it arises
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
  • Sufficient command of spoken English as defined under the Code of Practice on English language requirements for public sector workers
