Your Role: Empower, Support, Inspire!

As a TA at Atelier 21, you will be integral to creating a supportive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. You will work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and other staff to ensure that all students receive the individual support they need to succeed, particularly those with special educational needs. Your role is varied and dynamic, ranging from classroom assistance to targeted intervention and personalized student support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supercharge Student Learning
  2. Collaborate with teachers to deliver dynamic lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students, particularly focusing on literacy, numeracy, and SEN support. Work directly with small groups or individual students who need additional assistance to ensure they are engaged, challenged, and supported.
  3. Champion Targeted Interventions
  4. Design and implement personalized interventions for students with SEN, helping them overcome specific learning barriers. Track progress and work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to refine and improve interventions.
  5. Enhance Classroom Learning
  6. Assist in preparing and organizing learning materials and classroom setups, ensuring lessons run smoothly. Provide real-time support during lessons, offering feedback and encouragement to keep students engaged and motivated.
  7. Wild Fridays & Special Projects
  8. Be an active participant in Wild Fridays, an exciting school initiative that promotes creativity and exploration. You will also support students during personal projects, school trips, and other hands-on activities that foster holistic development and emotional learning.
  9. Transform Learning for All
  10. Help tailor lessons and activities to meet the individual needs of all students, ensuring every learner receives the best possible educational experience. Track student progress using tools like Personal Progress Diaries and contribute to the celebration of student achievements.
  11. Create a Safe & Positive Environment
  12. Support the creation and maintenance of a welcoming and positive classroom environment. As a role model, demonstrate positive behavior and respectful attitudes that align with the school’s ethos of inclusivity and respect.
  13. Collaboration Across the School
  14. Work collaboratively with other TAs, teachers, and staff to share best practices and improve student support. Attend and contribute to team meetings, where your insights will help shape the direction of teaching and learning at the school.
  15. Partner with Parents & External Experts
  16. Communicate student progress and well-being to parents, fostering strong relationships to ensure the best outcomes for students. Liaise with external professionals, such as educational psychologists, to ensure students receive appropriate, targeted support.
  17. Organizational Support
  18. Help maintain accurate records of student progress, interventions, and attendance. Assist the SENCO in preparing key documentation, including Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience or Interest in Secondary Education: Particularly in Maths or other subjects, though all subject experience is welcome. Experience working with SEN students is highly desirable.
  • Patience, Empathy, and Proactive Approach: The ability to engage with students with a variety of learning needs and provide the support they need in a positive, constructive manner.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with students, staff, and parents.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding and Student Well-being: A strong understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to promoting students' physical and emotional well-being.

About Atelier 21 Future School

Atelier 21 is a pioneering school, designed to offer an education fit for children’s futures. Based in Broadfield Park, Pease Pottage, West Sussex, the school is the UK’s first Reggio Emilia inspired, enquiry-based learning Future School for children aged 4-16 years.

Our school is creating a stir in the educational landscape for its trailblazing approach to education which focusses on teaching children ‘how to think, not what to think.’ Its aim is to make learning more relevant, meaningful, and joyful.

The children at Atelier 21 have a democratic say in the running of the school and this shows in the revolutionary culture which nurtures mutual respect between adults and young people, hence no school uniform and pupils call the teachers by their first names.

Our school is committed to excellence in education and innovation. We are dedicated to shaping the future by empowering our students with the skills, learning powers, and

‘flex-pertise’ they need to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
