Pinewood is an Academy for 11–16-year-olds, who all have Special Educational Needs including Learning Difficulties, Autism and Speech, Language and Communication needs. Pinewood has a warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere built on mutual respect. You will be expected to support pupils under the direction of the Teacher and this may involve 1:1, small group or whole class support. Experience of working as a teaching assistant or within a Special School is not a pre-requisite for this position, but would be advantageous. An interest and enthusiasm for developing within this exciting, challenging and rewarding area of education is key. Pinewood offers:

Working Pattern:  Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday: 8.30–4.00pm, Thursday & Friday: 8.30–3.30pm Possible flexibilty for 3pm finish - except for Tuesdays (due to staff training) - to be discussed at interview. Please indicate any flexible finish times required. Please note we can only accommodate flexible working finish times from 3pm - all other working hours are mandatory. Pinewood is a very successful mixed secondary school for 159 pupils with 'Moderate Learning Difficulties'. The school is located in a very attractive rural area of extensive, landscaped woodland within walking distance of Ware Town. We are committed to the personal development of our pupils and staff who are willing to contribute to our wide and varied programme of curricular and extra-curricular activities.
