The academy has a rare and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and adaptable professional to encourage and support our students through helping them to develop their social and emotional skills to promote healthy well being and the ability to achieve the best possible outcomes.

The successful candidate will be a reflective practitioner with a commitment to continually evaluate and improve their own practice working as part of a committed team helping to develop our students’ resilience and independence.

We are ideally seeking a trained Thrive practitioner to join our pastoral team but would consider candidates who are willing to undertake the Thrive training.

The successful candidate will:

·        Support a whole-school approach in the development of social and emotional development and mental health of students

·        Promote improved attendance, engagement and progress through Thrive support

·        Support the Social, Emotional and Mental Health progress of identified students through the delivery of THRIVE 1-2-1 and small group intervention

·        Be accountable for assessing and reporting on the progress of individual students measured against the THRIVE online assessment tool

·        Be able to motivate and challenge students helping to develop confidence, self-esteem and efficacy


Skills and abilities:

·        A commitment to inclusion, equal opportunities and fairness

·        An ability to relate well to students and adults and work as part of a professional team

·        A calm, flexible, pleasant and empathetic manner

·        A commitment to continual professional development and to be able lead CPD for others

About The Bishop of Winchester Academy

The Bishop of Winchester Academy, based in Bournemouth, Dorset, is a Church of England secondary school that prides itself on its curriculum, governance and outstanding student behaviour. Students aged 11-18 experience teaching in new state-of-the-art buildings and have first-class resources at their fingertips. The school operates in an area where there are schools that select for entry on grounds of ability.

The mixed secondary school was opened in September 2010 as a sponsor-led academy. In September 2014, the Bishop of Winchester Academy extended its educational opportunities by opening its own sixth form.
