Job overview

Whitefriars School is a fully integrated 3 to 18 all-through school. In March 2024, our school was judged Outstanding by OFSTED for Nursery and Reception (EYFS) and Good in all other areas including Sixth Form.

We are now looking for a positive, dynamic and resilient Trainee Teacher (1 year Fixed Term Contract) to join our fantastic team in our primary section.

We believe in loving and cherishing our students, we also have the same ethos for our staff. We have a well-being strategy where we ensure we do everything we can to support and develop our staff. Some of the examples are:

  • We have an active well-being group
  • Supportive middle leaders and leadership team
  • Free use of touch screen luxury coffee & hot chocolate machine for all staff
  • Regular staff well-being reviews
  • Exceptional paid leave allowance to support with childcare. In addition, 1 day paid for celebration events such as: wedding/trip/graduation per annum
  • Assessment and marking policy that has reduced the workload outside of school.

The growth mind-set underpins everything we do. We do not believe that some pupils are bright and that others are not. We believe in the limitless capacity for everyone to achieve great things. We believe that what we become and what we achieve comes from great teaching, hard work and fantastic support. We do not allow it to come from your background. We are looking for a Trainee Teacher - Primary who shares this mindset and who is passionate and motivated by these beliefs.

Our pupils make rapid progress and achieve academic excellence in an environment of love and care. Our school is a strong family where expectations are high, values are positive and children are treasured. Our goal is to equip our pupils with the knowledge, skills and character to lead successful lives.

We provide pupils with a curriculum of the highest quality. We have new state-of-the art buildings with a wide range of extensive facilities. Our pedagogical approach is rooted in the science of how children learn. We ask lots of questions, we explain in small steps, we link to prior learning and we guide first practice. Our pupils think hard about their learning. We read a lot because it has a profound impact on educational outcomes.

Our teachers get to know the pupils as individuals and build meaningful relationships that last. We ensure that all of our pupils feel they belong. We explicitly teach our pupils to live by positive shared values and to hold these deep in their hearts. We are a Rights Respecting Gold accredited school. This creates our wonderful learning environments and great behaviors'. We offer a wide range of innovative clubs.

We maintain a great work-life balance.
