Job overview

A Vice Principal is one of the most senior leadership roles in ESF schools next to the Principal. As such, the role provides strategic leadership and oversight of all curriculum and pastoral areas across the school. The Vice Principal may be the Principal designate as required.

Opportunities for innovation and inclusion in teaching practice and pedagogy are a priority area within the school’s existing strategic plan, and we seek someone who is able to contribute to this aspect of the school’s development. This role will be to lead and support all areas of teaching, learning and pastoral care across Years 1 – 6.

The position will be a full-time two-year contract starting in January 2025 (negotiable later start date for the right candidate). This contract will be renewable by mutual consent.


Responsibilities

As a member of Bradbury School’s Senior Leadership Team, you must be able to:

  • Be a child-centred practitioner who will inspire minds, nurture hearts and enrich tomorrow
  • Develop and support a positive, professional school culture with all groups in the school community
  • Support the school’s mission, and core values in conjunction with the IB learner profile
  • Develop and articulate a shared vision and strategic development plan for the school and lead colleagues in achieving this
  • Create a culture of psychological safety where collaboration, discussion, feedback and teamwork are promoted within the school
  • Be internationally-minded, and thrive in a diverse and cross-cultural context
  • Model exemplary professional practice
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the school’s learning community
  • Foster a spirit of inquiry, innovation, inclusion, professional learning and reflection
  • Promote high standards and expectations across the school community
  • Regard parents as partners in the education of their child

As Vice Principal, you need the Leadership ability to:

  • Lead and support curriculum, inclusion and wellbeing across the school
  • Develop teachers’ professional knowledge and skills - through a rigorous appraisal system, offering feedback, coaching and support as needed
  • Lead and support the successful implementation of the school’s strategic improvement Plans
  • Contribute to the educational development of the English Schools Foundation (ESF)


Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, or Bachelor's Degree in any subject with PGCE (evidence of further professional study would be a benefit).
  • A proven track record as a leader in a school with experience in leading and developing a significant area of school development
  • IB PYP experience would be beneficial
  • In-depth knowledge of curriculum and current pedagogy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Recent school Vice Principal experience is preferable
