The role:
We seek a qualified Teacher to join as a Visual Art Teacher where your focus will be:
- To embrace inquiry-based learning, fostering a culture of inquiry where students ask questions, explore concepts, and engage in research. Encouraging students to take ownership of their learning through projects and investigations.
- Integrate the IB Learner Profile: Promote the attributes of the IB Learner Profile into daily teaching practices, helping students develop these qualities to become well-rounded individuals.
- To focus on conceptual understanding, emphasing the importance of understanding key concepts over rote memorization and encouraging students to make connections between different subjects and real-world situations.
- Differentiated Instruction: Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of learners. Provide varied resources and activities to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Global Contexts: Incorporate the six global contexts (identities and relationships, orientation in space and time, etc.) into the curriculum. This helps students understand and relate their learning to the wider world.
- Collaborative Learning: Promote collaboration among students through group projects and peer learning. This enhances critical thinking and communication skills.
- Interdisciplinary Approaches: Encourage interdisciplinary teaching, especially in projects and units that span multiple subjects. This reflects the interconnectedness of knowledge and helps students see the bigger picture.
- Assessment for Learning: Use formative assessment strategies to provide ongoing feedback. Encourage self-assessment and peer assessment to foster a growth mindset.
- Technology Integration: Leverage technology to enhance learning experiences, facilitate research, and encourage creativity. Use digital tools to support collaboration and communication.
- Community and Service: Incorporate community service and action components into the curriculum. Encourage students to apply their learning in real-world contexts and develop a sense of responsibility.
- Professional Development: Provide ongoing training for teachers on IB philosophy, pedagogical strategies, and assessment practices. Foster a collaborative environment for sharing best practices.
- Reflective Practice: Encourage both teachers and students to engage in reflective practice. Regular reflection helps identify strengths, areas for improvement, and strategies for enhancing teaching and learning.
The Successful Candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher
- a minimum of 2 years relevant teaching experience
- Teaching qualification
- Strong Subject Knowledge: A solid understanding of the primary curriculum, including literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects.
- Effective Communication Skills: The ability to communicate clearly and engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Classroom Management Skills: Techniques for maintaining a positive and orderly classroom environment.
- Adaptability: The ability to adjust teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Passion for Teaching: A genuine enthusiasm for education and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students.
- Empathy and Understanding: The capacity to understand and support students' social, emotional, and academic needs.
- Collaborative Spirit: Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
- Creativity: Innovative approaches to lesson planning and problem-solving in the classroom.
- Assessment Skills: Proficiency in using various assessment methods to evaluate student progress and inform instruction.
