About The Sheffield Private School
The Sheffield Private School is a 3-18 Co-ed British curriculum school, located in the north of Dubai. The school follows the EYFS curriculum in its Foundation Stage year groups and the KS1 and KS2 English National Curriculum in Primary Years 1 to 6. In Secondary, students follow the KS3 English National Curriculum before taking IGCSE subjects in Years 10 and 11 and either A Level or BTEC in Years 12 and 13. Students graduate from The Sheffield Private School to universities across the world, including the UK.
The school serves a wide range of nationalities, with most students holding Indian subcontinent or Arab country passports. There are a few local Emirati students in the school, but these are in the minority.
As a school founded in 2004, it has at its core a set of parents that have a strong community spirit and have been committed to the school for a number of years as their children pass through their educational journey with us.
Increasingly, students from other schools in Dubai are joining TSPS as its journey of self-improvement and the quality of its teachers continues to be recognised.
The Senior Management at the school, is committed to school student growth, further educational improvement, and ensuring best British practice is found in all school practices and policies.
The Sheffield Private School has embraced High Performance Learning (HPL) and is an HPL accredited school, as well as a Microsoft Accredited School. It is currently a member of British Schools Middle East (BSME). A recent local authority (KHDA) school inspection praised the school for the progress it had made since its previous inspection.
The Opportunity
We are looking to urgently appoint a Key Stage 1 teacher to take responsibility for a lovely class of Year 2 students. Our maximum class size is 25 students. The school is actively seeking to interview young, career committed teachers with UK training in England, Scotland or Wales. Teachers can be in their NQT year. The school is able to provide structured coaching and mentoring to young teachers who are keen to make an impact within the school, in their first year of international teaching.
After appointment, the teachers will be expected to plan and work collaboratively within their year group team under the leadership of a Head of Year and with the support of Subject Co-ordinators in English, Mathematics and Science. Teachers will have a designated classroom and Learning Assistant.
The Primary phase uses ‘Power Maths, ‘Read Write Ink’ and ‘Talk for Writing’ as its core subject teaching methods as students move from FS and through Primary.
Classes have students with diverse needs, and thus effective differentiation lies at the heart of our good teaching practice. Students are tracked in their progress and formative assessment carried out by teachers is ongoing to enable class teachers to plan next steps for their students. Microsoft Teams is used to support online learning and the sharing of material with students. Students from Years 5 upwards have their own mobile devices for use in the classroom. Teachers are equipped with a school laptop and have an interactive whiteboard available in their classroom. Banks of tablets and laptops are available for use in the classroom to support learning. All classrooms are equipped with Interactive Whiteboards and projectors.
Teachers are expected to embrace a High Performance Learning pedagogy in their classrooms with an understanding that all students are limitless in their abilities to achieve.
As in all schools in Dubai, the day starts early at around 7:15 am and staff leave around 3:30 pm. The school works a 4 ½ day working week, with an early finish on Friday at lunchtime, allowing for a long weekend.
The school employs Teaching Assistants to support the learning taking place in the classrooms, and there is a well-respected SEND Department that supports students with more specific learning challenges. Teaching days are around 180/365 each year, with extensive holidays similar to the UK for travelling and returning back to home countries.
The current vacancy is for a teaching role with immediate effect.
The school offers remuneration packages comparable to other schools in Dubai, which are tax free, along with an end of contract gratuity. In addition, medical insurance, flights, and housing or a housing allowance are also provided. A two-year contract will be provided.
About You
You will be a fully qualified Primary Teacher, with a teaching qualification gained in UK or be in your first post of teaching in the UK.
Student safety, happiness, and effective learning will be at the heart of what you want to achieve in your classroom.
You will be willing to use your skills in a collaborative way with peers, as a member of a successful whole school learning community. As a young teacher, you won’t know everything about your profession, but you will be willing to ask and seek guidance and learn from others. You will be committed to your own professional development and expect the school to support you in that, which it will do willingly and generously.
Dubai
Is a city like no other; well known for its cosmopolitan lifestyle, excellent shopping, incredible architecture and lively social scene. Whether you are someone who marvels at the skyscrapers, enjoys time at the beach or a desert safari, Dubai has it all. Dubai is also an excellent flight hub to carry out travel further afield. Despite this, Dubai can be as cheap or expensive as you want to make it. Taxis and transport are far cheaper than the UK and the diverse food available can also be very affordable. And, it costs you nothing to soak up the sun on a beautiful white beach with warm water all year round.

About The Sheffield Private School
About The Sheffield Private School
The Sheffield Private School is a British style school and member of the BSME offering a well-balanced, ‘Ultra’ curriculum that follows the English National Curriculum for children aged 3 to 18 years old. As a school founded in 2004, we have a strong community spirit and a dedicated educational faculty who hold inclusion close to their hearts. We believe that learning should be ‘limitless’ as we continue the journey to become a High Performance Learning (HPL) accredited school where learners will develop the values, attitudes and attributes supporting both their educational and life prospects. HLP underpins everything that we do at TSPS; there are no limits to learning.
We believe that academic excellence should be accessible to students across all backgrounds at affordable fees. Our vision is to make TSPS the leading affordable British style school in Dubai. We enable our students to reach far beyond the curriculum, enabling them to become young adults who are considerate of others, have the ability to listen and consider other perspectives and then to form their own opinions and have the assurance to voice those opinions.
The school is located in Al Nahda, Dubai; a residential area with a strong sense of community. The school has students from over 65 nationalities reflecting the international context of the local area and of Dubai.
Parents are very much involved in the school and we have a strong PTA who support both families and the school as a whole.
The school comprises a range of modern facilities including a dedicated healthcare centre, IT and science labs, a spacious library, specialised BTEC, Post 16 and Inclusion rooms, playgrounds and a swimming pool. All our classrooms are equipped with interactive smartboards and displays and we encourage our students to bring their own devices from Year 3 upwards. Learning Innovation is an area we are exploring continuously with our current aim to become a Microsoft showcase school next year.
Not only do we focus on academics, our sports achievements have been remarkable too. TSPS was the U16 DASSA Champions 2018-19, remaining unbeaten against premium schools in Dubai. Our swim squad won the EISSA Swimming Gala U14 and U12 in 2018-19. We hope to retain our sporting accolades once competitive school sports restart in Dubai.
As befits an HPL school we are continually improving and striving for higher achievements. The school also runs a dedicated enrichment programme, with various recreational and academic clubs and activities to further students’ understanding of a subject area and aid their personal development.
Dubai itself is a city like no other, well known for its cosmopolitan lifestyle, luxury shopping, incredible architecture and lively social scene.
