Year 2 Unit 2 Traditional Tales - Cinderella

(14)
Here is my planning for the Narrative Unit 2 Traditional Tales based on the story Cinderella. The last week is basically empty - what I did was have a story map on the board and each day told the children to write to a certain point and reminded them of different thing I wanted them to focus on each day - be it speech marks, connectives, openers etc. So you can change this to suit the needs of your class. By the end of the week we had written the whole story. Hope this is helpful!

Pirates Year 2 Stories with a familiar setting

(19)
Here is my planning for Unit 1 Narrative Writing for Year 2 - Stories with a familiar setting and some random resources that I have used so far. It is very closely linked to the unit plans and uses three main books - 'The Night Pirates&', &';A New Home for Pirate' and &'Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs&';. The Pirate theme works with this unit because these stories start or have in them familiar settings - e.g. the night pirates starts in Tom's bedroom. Hope these are useful!

Here is a document I created when my school decided to change the way we tracked the ages and stages in Early Years, to track each subject individually rather than by age. They did not however go far enough back for my Nursery children at the time, so I created this going from ELG to 16-26 months. At the bottom I have included the colours we used to highlight however everything is fully editable if you wish to change it. I'm now also using it in Reception.

Phonics information to send home for children and parents

(0)
Here is a letter/information sheet I wrote and sent out for Reception children (and Nursery children at the end of the year) It explains how to use the cards to learn the letter sounds and how to practice blending and segmenting and includes a phonics dictionary. I sent the information to Reception parents with a set of cut up letter cards (from Twinkl) and for Nursery I sent a set of letter and picture cards (also from Twinkl) Each week I am adding to the cards and sending out the next set of words linked to those letters for the children to practice at home. So far I have got up to the end of Phase 2 but I will add the rest as I do them. All fully editable. I have found parents have been very responsive to this so hopefully it will be useful to anyone in Early Years (or possibly KS1) who wants to send information home.
