Content of exercise
The Goethe institute provides documents which gives an insight into German culture.
This document contains lyrics, Youtube video's and lesson plans for specific German artists.

I adapt the documents to fit my classes and use this website for my ' free independent culture and reading module'. I.e students have a reading portfolio and they tell me what they have learnt about this artist. They present their findings to me ( via PP, word or discussion)

The German institute allows free access to this website as long as the source is quoted.
This powerpoint shows the conjugation /rule of weak verbs . Please view the powerpoint in full mode. Clicking each slide shows how students can conjugate weak verbs: i.e
- remove ' en'
- this leaves the 'stem' of the given verb
- the endings ( ESTENTEN) of the personal pronouns then appear

This powerpoint uses the verb ' to live ( wohnen) to explain the grammer rule
The aim of this game is to get the pupils actively thinking how to determine correct (accusative/ dative) case when using dual prepositions. This exercise tends to work in groups of 4.

Before the game starts, I review the grammar rules with the class ( see slide 1 )

During the game, students place the sentences in the correct row. Groups call out connect 4 when they think they have correct answers. I walk over to group and cross check their answers. If all answers match, I tend to give the group a small prize .

PS: Slide 5 contains the answer sheet.
PPS: Another variation to this exercise is to remove the article ( der/des etc...) and get the students to write correct article and place sentences in correct row.
