3 Chapters of a Christmas Story where Santa loses his hat. Children must read each chapter and answer the questions. Each chapter comes with sentences which the children must draw a picture to match, assessing their understanding of the text. Children ultimately write the ending of the story by using the evidence within the three chapters to help to decide what has happened. Sheets designed for majority of class but are easy to differentiate by changing the language used.
Independent reading comprehension for last week of term. Four lessons worth of work. Children to read through one of three differentiated football booklets. Each booklet describes Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez. Children to read through the section on each player and answer questions on separate sheet. Also a maths sheet to complete. Booklets contain features of non fiction texts and some challenging vocabulary to discuss. Worthwhile to link to World Cup and requires little support. Good for term winding down
Reading comprehension for Year 2 and above. There are three pages in each differentiated mini booklet covering coasts, seas and oceans. For each section there is an accompanying set of questions. Ideal for SATs practise as questions are in a similar style to end of key stage tests.
Children to begin to record 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 and 1/5 using cubes. OMS included at start of PowerPoint. OMS revisits one more and one less than 2-digit numbers
Word comprehension for higher ability year 2 or for lower KS2. Children to read through a match report from England's defeat to Italy and answer corresponding questions. Work is differentiated to three different levels although lower ability year 2 will require help.

Independent Christmas activity during final week. Help Santa to pack his presents by using coordinates to place items in the correct place. Children to read the coordinates and draw the item in Santa's sack. on the second sheet, children to look at the pictures on the grid and then write the item next to the coordinate.

Bingo cards for 2, 5 and 10 times tables. 15 bingo cards for children to use with a partner for a quick fire bingo game. Useful as an alternative means of times table work during lesson starter.
