A step by step guide to creating a small fact book on the country of the pupil's choice. Used this in Year 6 and worked effectively as a piece of independent work

In this mix and match activity, children are given a variety of historical figures and scenarios They must research to find out what crime was committed by the figure or during the episode of history. They must then match them up with picture and the punishment that was given for the crime. <br /> <br /> I created this for secondary IMYC unit on Justice. The activity was very stimulating for children as they also had to find definitions. It prompted much discussion as they completed it in small groups as a challenge to complete in under two hours. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />

A great set of words around genre of science fiction. Also a good resource as I have made it in the VCOP style with words and phrases relevant to each of the four strands. Also a writing frame for writing in sci-fi style. Hope you find it useful

An activity for ordering stills from the film and writing a description of events for each still. Good for promoting interaction about the film and securing the chronological order of the film.

A mix and match activity in which students must listen to YouTube videos (links provided) of famous protest / injustice songs and match up the lyrics with the song. The final section of the activity involves them researching the meaning behind the song and for what purpose it was written. Did this with Year 7,8 and 9 class and they loved getting the chance to listen to the music. They followed it up with a presentation on their own favourite protest songs. A list of these is also provided in the second sheet.

A short creative writing unit based around the film 'The March of the Penguins'. Here we have all the resources for children to write their own diary entries imagining they are one of the penguins in the film. I found that this really deepened the understanding of the pupils around this marvelous bird migration. The film was also available to view on YouTube at the time of publication

A variety of resources I made up for teaching all about the Titanic including<br /> <br /> Lego Titanic - stills taken from the YouTube movie Lego Titanic in which pupils must use their literacy skills to first order pictures correctly then write a caption for each one. Excellent for acquainting pupils with the main events of the disaster in a fun and interactive way<br /> <br /> Titanic Diary - a literacy resource for diary writing for before, during and after the Titanic disaster.<br /> <br /> Titanic Morning Starters - A PowerPoint with short activities where children must complete paragraph choosing correct word for the gap. This recounts some interesting and little known events of the disaster.<br /> <br /> Titanic Words - a word sort/dictionary activity where children must match up each of the words to the correct meaning. <br /> <br /> Diary Entries - a supporting writing frame for children writing a diary entry from the point of view of one of the passengers on the ship.<br /> <br /> Disasters at Sea/Titanic -simple fact finding/ research questions that children can use to find key events about the disaster.
