Alice in Wonderland hats/settings/character Art & Design project

Created for a theme day so split into morning and afternoon sessions. Could be broken down into 4 or 5 lessons quite easily. Creating our own versions of The Mad-hatter's hat - we then wore our hats at a classroom tea party. Looks at functions of hats, history of hats, inspiration for design ideas, brief instructions for making - allowed my class lots of freedom. For the afternoon session we created our own wonderland setting or wonderland character. Lots of inspiration and points for discussion. 26 slides.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee wordsearch, crossword and word challenge

A word search with solution for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, a crossword with solution and also a fun challenge/puzzle - how many words can you make from…? I’ve created these to use with my tutor group and also for quick literacy/starter activities for some of my classes. I’m in secondary and and will use at KS3 and with some KS4 - I think these activities could also be used at primary level too - possibly in year 5 and year 6.

RSPCA Class that Cares Lessons 5 and 6

A PowerPoint inspired by the RSPCA's class that cares programme. Can be used to incorporate animal welfare into the curriculum. I used this as our class is organising a charity fayre to raise money for the RSPCA and it linked well to our "Living Things and their Habitats" topic. It looks at grouping and classifying animals and the idea that humans have responsibilities towards animals. There are scenarios for the children to look at and decide what they would do if they were an RSPCA inspector, card sort activity, links to appropriate videos on YouTube, points for discussion etc. Good for Science, PSHE or stand-alone one off session. Everything you need is in the PowerPoint but lesson plans can be downloaded from the RSPCA website.
