Planning for pupil progress resource. Improving achievement in Maths: helping children move from level 3 to level 4. A very useful document from the DSCF that is no longer available to download or order. I hope sharing it here will be useful. It identifies where children's weaknesses are and how you can address them to move them on to Level 4. Have also added a website that has a live version of these resources.

If useful, please consider buying my class a book! https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/32HP9Q274WJ4K?ref_=wl_share
Inspired by sentence stacking, this planning follows the Write Stuff plans for Stone Age Boy for Year 3. I plan to use the powerpoint each day, (with the Jane Considine symbols for each day added on to the powerpoint and stickers) as we do the sentence stacking or experience days, and use the stickers on the left hand side of English books, as we jot our vocabulary and ideas.
The model sentences and more detail can be found in The Write Stuff plan.

HFW Word Mat connectives VCOP Writing reminders

(10)
One side shows a selection of high frequency words in alphabetical order, and the other shows reminders of punctuation pyramid, connectives, presenting a sentence, interesting colour adjectives and a selection from the child's targets e.g. read your work through, use commas to pause. I laminated these mats back to back, and asked children to check through their work and tick with a whiteboard pen before coming to show me they were finished, to try and instil an ethos of checking their work independently.

Handwriting lines

(24)
I made this smartbook for use during handwriting lessons, as our exercise books have two blue lines in the center, then a red line at the top and bottom for ascenders and descenders. Putting it on the smartboard makes it a bit easier to explain, and it is locked so you can write over it and then rub out with no problems.
Updated with a newer version of smart notebook!

Level 2 and 3 subtraction word problems

(30)
Two sheets of simple subtraction word problems using a variety of vocabulary, mainly TU - TU but with some 3 digit numbers. I used with low ability Year 4. The first page is slightly harder than the second page. I printed the appropriate sheet off for each group, cut them up and let the children choose which questions they wanted to stick in their book, draw a numberline for and answer - very motivating as they tried to be the one who had answered the most!

Feely bag materials - sense of touch

(14)

I did a lesson on touch as part of a series on senses. Included is my lesson plan. To include a child who had severe communication difficulties, I took a photo of all the objects that might be in the feely bag, so when other children described them, he could touch the relevant picture. Turned out to be useful for all my LA children as they found it easier to match a description to an object when they could see different options.
