This is a short unit (approx 2-3 50 minute periods) which aims to improve students ability to create effective characterisation in creative or personal pieces of writing.<br /> <br /> Pack contains a self-explanatory PowerPoint which you simply run through and it gives students examples of good practice and gives them tasks on how to improve characterisation. There is also a worksheet which gives pupils the opportunity to work independently and build their skills at characterisation.<br /> <br /> This unit works well in conjunction with my other 'describing setting' series of lessons.

This is a short series of lessons which aims to improve students ability to describe setting and works well as a follow-on to the other series of lessons I have uploaded on 'Characterisation'.<br /> <br /> Students build on their ability to describe setting and will engage in a series of enjoyable tasks in the process. The 'Setting Placemat' activity will require the class teacher to print off all sheets (preferably in colour) and then either glue or laminate the two sides together.

This activity takes a wee while to set up but it is really worth it and can be used year on year from then on.<br /> <br /> It is a revision board game to help consolidate information from the drama 'An Inspector Calls'. The board itself was made up by me, however the questions were made up by my students so check them for accuracy before printing. Alternatively, you could (as I did) get the students to come up with their own questions which, although a lengthier process, does give the students even further revision opportunities. I also used a 'revision dice' in mine that I found on this TES revision website, however it is not essential for the game to run.<br /> <br /> The pack includes:<br /> The board game itself<br /> 3 sets of cards (which need to be cut out)<br /> A PowerPoint and 'How to Play' worksheet indicating how the game is played.

This short Media unit will span approximately 3 50 minute periods and is suitable for use from (approx.) aged 8 to 16. It focuses mainly on analysis of camera angles, mis-en-scene and sound. It's a good way to open to a larger Media study (e.g. a film) in order to learn or consolidate skills.<br /> <br /> The pack contains a PowerPoint presentation which will be the visual stimulus for the lessons and will naturally guide you through the unit. In the 'notes' section at the bottom of the PowerPoint screen, there are often many hints for the class teacher to use and to ensure they are getting the most out of the lessons. In addition, there is also a worksheet (the use of which is optional) which runs alongside the analysis of the short film. These are just some notes my class made up on the characters in AIC. Quite visually appealing and outline the main revision points for characters. Good as a place to start.

This is a Listening Assessment (aimed at Scottish National 5 Candidates but can be used in other areas) based on Barack Obama's 'Yes We Can' speech. It asks questions on Purpose/Audience, Language and Ideas. Great as a mock assessment.

This resource will show students how to answer the 'Link' Question. Examples are provided and students are given examples to try.
