<p>Miriam Hyman was killed in the “7/7” London bombings on 7th July, 2005. In her memory, The Miriam Hyman Memorial Trust collaborated with teachers to create Miriam’s Vision, units of work for use across the Key Stage 3 curriculum. The unique, high quality lesson plans, written by teachers for teachers, contain an editable powerpoint, worksheets (PDF), video links and guidance notes.</p> <p>The aim is to promote social cohesion in response to the circumstances of Miriam’s death.</p> <p>The unit contains 6 sessons.<br /> • Session 1: Human rights: What are they, and how can they be protected?<br /> • Session 2: Human rights: Balancing rights and responsibilities<br /> • Session 3 How do we make change in a democracy?<br /> • Session s 4 and 5: A third runway for Heathrow - including effects of fuel emissions and climate change. A case study of change through the democratic process.<br /> • Session 6 Applying learning to a school issue of the class’s choice.</p>

Who was affected by 7/7?<br /> • Session 3 – Personal consequences (2). What happened on 7/7?’ - Introduces Miriam’s story.<br /> • Session 2 ‘From Reaction to Response’- Explores how progress can be made from emotional reaction to rational, constructive response to adversity. Learners are encouraged to explore ways that this might apply to their own lives.</p>
