This is a free pack of cross curricular resources to accompany the children’s book Nurdle. Nurdle is a man made microplastics used to make all plastic products. he is not being looked after properly and is getting in all sorts of trouble! The book is written in gentle rhyming text to introduce children to the origins of our plastic problem and what they can do to help. Age 3+

This is an activity designed to get children discussing the impact of plastics, single use plastics and the positive and negative impacts of plastics. Children read a selection of statements and then decide if they are a positive or negative impact of plastics. Once the strips have been sorted the children can then be split into teams to use the strips to debate the impact of plastic on our society.

Using the WWF poster about the lifespan of plastics in the ocean children can cut out different time periods and pictures of plastics and use them to discuss how long things live in the ocean. This also works well alongside a lesson sorting real plastics for recycling and lifespan.
