This is a whole scheme of work of 15 lessons. They all include powerpoint presentations and worksheets for guidance for each of the practical activities. These two lessons look at the concept of Capture recapture. There is a practical investigation too.<br /> <br /> L1: Introduces the idea of Capture Recapture. There are two potential starters (guidance in footnotes for starter 2). The lesson then looks at sampling the population of snails in the school grounds and considers the assumptions that need to be made when using this sampling technique.<br /> <br /> L2: Students use the formula to estimate the total population of organisms using the capture recapture method. Plenary exam question.<br /> <br /> L2 Alternative: The concept is taught using logic and ideas of proportionality. This lesson might be suited to a higher ability class. Plenary exam question.
