This lesson is aimed at getting pupils to identify extremist behavior and discuss the difference between extremism and terrorism. Since we have focused heavily on how Islam has been affected by terrorism and the media in previous topics, I have not included any specific information on IS in this lesson. This is aimed at a top set year 9 class but can be easily adapted through differentiated questioning. Learning objectives: To understand what is meant by the term extremism and how it differs from terrorism. To explain some of the reasons somebody might hold extremist views. To discuss case studies of extremism.

At one point in the lesson, students are asked to perform a miracle using 1 slice of bread to feed the whole class. We then evaluate atheist and theist responses.

I am an RE teacher and my students love to debate. They have some excellent ideas but struggle to put them in to a coherent structure in order to strengthen their arguments. They struggle in particular with creating a meaningful counter claim. This is a writing frame aimed at similar subjects and discussions that will help pupils organise their ideas either in written or spoken format to create meaningful class debates and discussions. A lesson designed to recap on MLK and introduce Malcolm X. Includes a Malcolm X quote code breaker activity and a 'make it stick' activity designed by Kagan to maximize student's learning. As a plenary, different opinions relating to the make it stick activity and their opinions regarding racism, oppression and violence are put in different parts of the classroom. Students are asked to pick an opinion by moving to that station and then justify their answer.

This is a series of 8 posters depicting various famous people with Religion, Ethics and Philosophy related degrees that I have used to create a raising aspirations and employability display promoting REP related careers and degrees. I have attempted to include a range of both male and female people with a broad range of careers paths. These include, actors, comedians, footballers and civil rights leaders. The degrees mentioned include: Theology, Philosophy, PPE and Eastern Religions. Alongside the posters I have created smaller sized cards depicting various REP degree courses around the country which annotate a map of the UK. Includes interactive activity to illustrate an otherwise quite abstract and potentially inaccessible topic. no previous knowledge is required for the lesson but this class have previously studied the cosmological argument. At the end of the lesson students should be able to recall the key points and critically evaluate the design argument.

Designed for the revision of the Christianity GCSE paper for eduqas specification but could be easily adapted for other exam boards. Questions are split into: - Source of Wisdom - Key Words - Influence and Impact of teachings The game covers both aspects of the Christianity paper; beliefs and teachings, and practices. The game is specifically designed around the specification and so is not school specific.

As part of 'Quiz Wednesday' that I run with my year 8 tutor group, I create a new quiz of roughly 20 questions each week. The rounds include literacy, numeracy, flags, general knowledge, 'in the news' and more. Any suggestions for a new round and any feedback would be very much appreciated. When the Mandala is colored in (templates can be easily found online) have them rip them up to teach about impermanence. Something shocking that really sticks in their minds! This is an anti-smoking lesson from the PSHE module of RISK which has been focused to develop class discussion. During the lesson, the students are encouraged to do any written work on whiteboards so they are mainly focused on developing their own opinions on the issue. During the videos, I set a variety of questions depending on the set ability to focus attention on the key aspects of each video.

This is lesson one in a module of SRE (Sex and Relationship Education.) Instructions on activities are included in the notes section of the PowerPoint. I have printed the final slides where I have summarized Amnesty International's report on that country to give to the children along with a list of human rights. The final task includes children reading the report and identifying which human rights have been violated.

This is a lesson aimed at low ability year 7's getting them to consider various ways of expressing spirituality. This lesson focuses on different styles and themes of music and engages them with the overarching themes of the module.

This is an introductory lesson aimed at low ability year 7's. There is a set of directed questions to maximize learning for the video. Each group is given a set of questions to answer during the video. after the video, they break off into groups and teach each other the answers to their questions. At the end of the activity, all students should have the answers to all questions.

Printable version of a dominoes style game on the topic of religion and the media. One side has a key term or question with a corresponding definition or answer on another card. All the cards match up to form a circle and should all face the same direction (towards the center of the circle) when the task is complete. In this pack there is 29 cards.
