A gap-fill activity to help students to understand when to use and how to conjugate regular verbs in the main tenses that they will need at GCSE and beyond.
This is a team translation activity to practice translation skills and a wide range of grammatical points around a variety of GCSE topics. Useful and fun for GCSE groups during revision sessions.
It is set up as a pairs task, but can be easily tweaked for individual work or larger teams.
Whilst it is a little time-consuming to do so, the items to translate can also be changed to suit your own specific needs.
I bought 20 (very cute) tiny plastic ducks online for a good price, then gave them all a name (just because my group at the time had 20 students in it!) and a number which corresponds to the different small translation cards.
I also made a little “pond” by lining an old ice cream tub with blue paper!
I have also used the activity with A-level students by using more complex translations.
This is a challenge activity that can be used as a starter to help recall verbs in a range of tenses in Spanish. The verbs are conjugated and the students identify the tense into which they have been conjugated and the infinitive of the verb.
