For example, I used it when students re-enacted scenes from the 1865 terrorist plot to assassinate Lincoln, Johnson, and Seward. It could also be used for contemporary characters who are being studied, such as election candidates.

Students use craft materials to create a wampum bracelet and calculate its value. Wampum was a form of currency, composed of shells or other natural materials, used by certain Native American tribes and European settlers for trading purposes.
Materials needed:
Multi-colored craft beads.
Materials for stringing the beads such as thread, filament fishing line, or craft wire.
Students follow the instructions on the wampum Calc Sheet to create a bracelet and assign a monetary value to it. Students then use the bracelet to simulate the purchase of items from an early American shopping list.
This assignment helps students learn the value of a dictionary to show syllabic structure, pronunciation stress, and parts of speech. It is particularly helpful for ESL students. The assignment could easily be augmented to include word definitions and use.
This puzzle was designed to assist students in U.S. History to identify key terms in the unit of study: Conquest of the West. It was used at the middle school level.

This study guide is useful to help history students organize their knowledge about key figures in World War II. It also provides an opportunity for students to express their opinion of each of these leaders. A partially completed grid with suggested answers is included.
This is a set of 9 information organizers for U.S. History from the Civil War to Pearl Harbor. I created one organizer for each unit of study. Units: The Civil War, Reconstruction, Conquest of the West, The Industrial Revolution, Immigration and City Life, Becoming a World Power, The Roaring Twenties, The Great Depression, and The Road to WWII. Each one page organizer generally provides the names of key people and terms relevant to that unit of study. Some organizers also provide place names and open ended questions to stimulate student thinking. Students fill in the necessary information for each name, term, question as we proceed through the unit of study. I found this to be a good way for students to summarize the bottom line knowledge they should gain. I used it at the middle school level, but it could be used for lower or higher grade levels.
This form was developed to assist students in interpreting the content of a photo. I used it for historical photos that included human subjects. It would not be as useful for photos without a human element.
